April Showers bring May flowers…and springtime brings on a whole new excuse to get out to these fabulous FUNdraisers put on by your teammates. Here’s the latest….

$10 to make someone else sing ($10 to get you out of singing)

Run, Bike or Swim down to Town Tavern to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s NYC Triathalon Team in Training.

$40 all you can drink for 3 hours.

• What: Mindy Rickert’s Hoboken Bar Golf Tournament
• When: Saturday, May 10, 4:00PM
• Where: Hoboken, NJ 07030 U

We are putting together a bar golf outing – with a twist. What exactly is bar golf? We’ll visit five bars and you can earn points for doing things that you would probably do otherwise – drink a shot, play bar games, ask for a phone number, kiss a competitor. You can choose to be in a foursome with your friends, or we can place you on a team (highly recommended!) Watch out for a few surprises along the way, including several hundred dollars in prizes from local businesses.

Join us on May 10th in Hoboken, just a short jaunt from the PATH for the city dwellers. Last-minute additions are welcome, but please RSVP if possible so that we can give the bars a head count. The cost is $20 per person and we’ve negotiated some excellent drink specials along the way. If you’re all in and would like to pay ahead of time, please visit my website to play with a credit or debit card. Otherwise you can pay at the start of the event.

The proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mindy is participating in the Nautica NYC Triathlon in honor of her cousin, Ryan Waldheger, who recently passed away after fighting leukemia for most of his life. We want to support her in reaching her fundraising goal of $3,000.

Please join me for drinks at Glass Lounge on May 15 to celebrate my 32nd birthday, hold a FUNdraiser, and last but certainly not least, get some FREE – that’s right FREE – BONE MARROW SCREENINGS!!! Did I say FREE bone marrow screenings? You bet I did. Instead of paying the customary $52 to join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), the New York Blood Center will be offering FREE – how many times can I say FREE in one paragraph? – marrow testing at my event . The test is not scary, it just involves a quick little wink of the eye and swab of the mouth: There is NO blood involved.As most of you know, as a member of Team in Training, I have pledged to raise over $2500 while training for this year’s New York City Triathlon, along with 375 of my teammates. I have taken on this challenge in memory of my cousin Simon.

We will also be selling really cool Team in Training Buffs (a uniquely versatile garment wear it in up to 12 different ways for protection, comfort and FUN!) for $20!!

IMPORTANT INFO:
I am asking for a $25 suggested donation – you can pre-donate online here or you can donate at the door or not donate at all.

It’s more important to me to get more people into the national marrow database – if for ANY reason you don’t want to donate (whether you’re also raising money, have no money, etc), please come anyway.

If you’re in any way uncomfortable with the idea of donating marrow if you’re a donor match, it’s not mandatory. Again, please come anyway, we’ll put you in a little corner with all of the other non-donators. Free dunce caps will be available for you.
